FAQ's

Additional requests for different or similar services by the same individual will be reviewed by the committee on a case-by-case basis; additional funding in this type of situation, however, is not guaranteed.

No. Once a majority vote has been made by the committee, action and next steps for funding issuance shall be made accordingly.

Any request for assistance that is more than $1,000 must be approved by the Foundation’s Board once approval has been made by the committee.  This approval may be discussed and made via email, but final approval or disapproval must be granted within three (3) business days of the notification for action.

Checks will only be written to a provider, vendor, etc., unless circumstances warrant issuance to the client themselves, at which time prior authorization must be made by the committee.  This also includes potential issuance to an identified family member or friend.  An account number, invoice number, or other unique identifier shall still be required for audit purposes.

All funding requests shall be reviewed accordingly by the committee.  If it is decided the request is outside of what is considered allowable or appropriate by the Foundation’s Board and its bylaws, responses will indicate such.

Assuming an online application is submitted for funding assistance from the Foundation:

One email address will be utilized for purposes of receiving funding requests. Members of the gifting committee as well as the Foundation’s treasurer will have access to requests received to ensure timely review.

This online mailbox will be checked by members each business day, or as required, with the understanding that requests received on holidays or weekends will be addressed the following business day.

  • Three (3) business days to review and respond to the application for funding assistance.
  • Immediate confirmation from the Specialty Courts’ designated contact person that the individual is a current member or graduate of a specialty court.
  • Within twenty-four (24) hours of the funding request, communication will be made with others committee members for purposes of obtaining consent. Committee members should then reply with approval or disapproval within an additional twenty-four (24) hours.  Consent cannot be assumed without a valid response and must be delivered via email for purposes of including written approval with the application for funding assistance.
  • Once approval is received from the committee, it shall be relayed to the Foundation’s Treasurer within twenty-four (24) hours. This communication to the Treasurer shall indicate the following:
    • Method of Payment: Payments shall be made by check only, unless authorization is provided by the committee for use of the Foundation’s debit card.
    • Payee: To whom the check (or authorized debit transaction) is payable. Checks will only be written to a provider, vendor, etc., unless circumstances warrant issuance to the client themselves, at which time prior authorization must be made by the committee.  An account number, invoice number, or other unique identifier shall be required for audit purposes.  The authorization shall also include the total amount to be paid, what the assistance is for, and a due date for payment, if applicable.
  • The Foundation’s Treasurer shall prepare the check for issuance (or make an authorized debit transaction) within twenty-four (24) hours of receipt of the committee’s approval. The check may be given to the client directly (with proof of proper identification) or the contact person for the Specialty Courts.
